What UptimeRobot does
UptimeRobot requests the URLs its customers add as monitors, at regular intervals, and alerts them when a site stops responding. HTTP monitors send a HEAD request by default and switch to GET on retry.
- Once a monitor is down, it checks every minute, and marks a URL down after 45 seconds without a response. Source
Does UptimeRobot follow robots.txt?
robots.txt doesn't apply: UptimeRobot only requests the URLs a customer set up.
How to stop UptimeRobot
If the monitor is yours, change or pause it in UptimeRobot. If it isn't, block its user agent in your firewall or CDN; UptimeRobot asks owners who want its checks to allowlist it there instead.
What blocking UptimeRobot changes
The customer's monitor reports your site as down. It has no effect on search.
Where to see UptimeRobot visits
Most bots never appear in Google Analytics. Many don't run JavaScript, so the analytics tag never loads, and Google Analytics 4 automatically excludes traffic from known bots and spiders. Your server or CDN logs record every request with its user agent, so search them for the bot's name.
OneLence recognizes UptimeRobot and keeps its requests out of your visitor counts.
