Free llms.txt generator

Enter your domain and get an llms.txt drafted from your own pages: your site's name, a summary and the pages worth reading, grouped into sections in the llmstxt.org format. Edit it here, then copy or download the file.

Free, no signup. The generator reads your home page, sitemaps and up to 24 pages the way a crawler would, then drafts the file here for you to edit, copy or download.

How the generator builds your llms.txt

It reads your site the way a crawler would, without running JavaScript, and identifies itself as OneLence-Checker. Your edits stay in your browser.

  1. Your home page. Its title, meta description and site name become the file's name and summary, and the links in its menu and footer show which pages you treat as important.
  2. Your sitemaps. The ones robots.txt lists, or /sitemap.xml, up to four files. In a sitemap index it starts with pages, then products, collections and services, and skips image, tag and author sitemaps.
  3. The pages worth listing. Pages rank higher when they usually answer buying questions (pricing, features, docs, integrations, about), when your home page links to them and when they sit near the top of your site. Carts, accounts, search results, archives, files and pages in other languages are left out, and no folder takes more than six places.
  4. Each page's title and description. It reads up to 24 pages, only as far as the end of their <head>, and links the canonical URL when a page names one. Pages that answer with an error or ask not to be indexed start unticked.
  5. Sections. Pages that share a folder, such as /integrations/, get a section of their own. Single pages go under Pages, Docs or Company, and blog posts and legal pages go under Optional, the section agents may skip.

What the draft looks like

A draft for a made-up rocket company, after a few edits. The format comes from the llms.txt proposal: one H1 with the name, a summary as a blockquote, then H2 sections that each hold a list of links.

# Example Rockets

> Example Rockets builds reusable launch vehicles for small satellite teams, with fixed-price launches from Florida and New Zealand.

## Pages

- [Pricing](https://example.com/pricing): Fixed-price launches and rideshare slots, and what each includes.
- [How it works](https://example.com/how-it-works): From booking to orbit in 12 weeks.

## Integrations

- [Satellite dispensers](https://example.com/integrations/dispensers): Supported dispensers and mass limits.
- [Ground stations](https://example.com/integrations/ground-stations): Networks we hand over to after separation.

## Optional

Edit the draft before you publish it

  • Write the summary for the questions people ask. Say what you do, for whom, and the facts assistants tend to get wrong, such as prices, plans or the platforms you support. The draft starts from your home page's meta description, which is often written for clicks rather than facts.
  • Add details when one sentence isn't enough. Short paragraphs or lists after the summary are part of the format, for who the product is for, what each plan includes or where you ship.
  • Give every link a note. One line on what the page answers helps an agent choose which page to open. Notes start from each page's meta description.
  • Keep it short. Link the pages that answer real questions, move secondary pages to Optional and untick the rest.
  • Keep it current. A summary with last year's prices does more harm than no file, so generate a new draft when your prices, plans or main pages change.

How to add llms.txt to your site

The file belongs at the root of your domain, next to robots.txt, so it answers at yourdomain.com/llms.txt. These steps were checked in October 2026.

  • Any host or static site. Upload llms.txt to the folder that holds robots.txt. In Next.js, Nuxt and Astro that's the public folder, and in Hugo and Gatsby it's static.
  • WordPress. Upload the file to the site's root folder with your host's file manager or FTP. If Yoast SEO or Rank Math already makes an llms.txt, switch that off so yours is the only one: in Yoast it's under Yoast SEO, Settings, Site features, AI tools, and in Rank Math it's the LLMS Txt module on the Rank Math dashboard. Both can also write the file for you, and Rank Math has an Additional Content field for lines of your own.
  • Shopify. Shopify serves an llms.txt for every store, built from its agents.md. To publish yours, go to Online Store, Themes, click the three dots and Edit code, add a new file in the Templates folder named llms.txt.liquid and paste the file in. It replaces /llms.txt only.
  • Webflow. In Site settings, SEO, LLMs.txt, click Upload file, save, then publish the site. The file has to be UTF-8 and under 100 KB, and it's published to your custom domain, not the webflow.io staging domain.
  • Wix. Wix writes and updates an llms.txt for sites on a premium plan with a custom domain. To use yours, open SEO & GEO in your dashboard, choose Go to llms.txt under Tools and settings, then More Actions, Edit file, and paste it. Wix stops updating the file once you edit it, and you can reset it to the automatic version later.

Then enter your domain in the free robots.txt and llms.txt checker. It fetches /llms.txt the way a crawler would, flags anything that doesn't follow the format and shows whether robots.txt lets each AI crawler read your pages. The llms.txt guide explains the format and who reads the file.

Frequently asked questions

What does an llms.txt generator do?

It drafts the file from your own site, so you don't start from a blank page. This one reads your home page, sitemaps and up to 24 pages, then writes an llms.txt in the llmstxt.org format: your site's name, a short summary and the pages worth reading, grouped into sections, each with a note from its meta description. You edit the draft, then copy or download it.

Is the llms.txt generator free?

Yes. There's no signup, and the file is yours to use however you like. To keep the tool fast for everyone, each visitor can generate up to 10 drafts in 10 minutes.

Where do I put the llms.txt file?

At the root of your domain, next to robots.txt, so it answers at yourdomain.com/llms.txt. On most hosts you upload it to the same folder as robots.txt. Shopify, Webflow and Wix each have their own place for it, and WordPress SEO plugins such as Yoast SEO and Rank Math can create one; the steps for each are on this page.

Does llms.txt help SEO or AI search visibility?

Not directly. Google says Google Search, including its AI features, doesn't use llms.txt, and that the file will neither harm nor help your rankings. OpenAI, Anthropic and Perplexity don't say their crawlers read it on other sites. What it does is give agents that look for it an accurate summary and your best pages. Your server logs show whether any agent fetches yours.

What is the difference between llms.txt and sitemap.xml?

A sitemap lists every page you want search engines to index. An llms.txt summarizes the site and links only the pages worth reading, with a note on each, for an agent that needs information while helping someone. A sitemap is the generator's main source for finding your pages, so a site with one gets a better draft.

Which pages should an llms.txt include?

The pages that answer the questions people ask about you: product and features, pricing, integrations, docs or help, and comparisons. Put blog posts, legal pages and other secondary pages under Optional, the section agents may skip, and leave out carts, accounts, search results and archive pages.

Why are some of my pages missing from the draft?

The generator reads up to four sitemap files and weighs up to 1,500 addresses, your home page's links first, then reads the 24 pages most worth listing. Others it found appear under More pages found, ready to add, and you can add any page by hand. Pages in other languages, carts, accounts, tag pages and files are left out on purpose.

How often should I update llms.txt?

Whenever your prices, plans, products or main pages change, since a summary with old facts does more harm than no file. Generate a new draft, compare it with your current file and keep the edits you made by hand.
